The Kane Group is committed to investment in technology, where benefits in performance and quality can be seen across the full scope of the business.
These include automatic on-board weighing and ground level sheeting on all tipper lorries, laser control over excavation and filling operations, GPS for vehicles and surveys, and 3D modelling for accurate calculations of volumes and areas.
Several of the improvements include positive safety benefits. Automated ground level sheeting removes the need for drivers to access the tipper body to sheet the load, thereby removing the risk of falling from height. Rear view cameras on articulated dump trucks provide full rearward visibility at all times.
Other developments save time enabling greater cost savings to be passed to the client. GPS or Global Positioning on all our vehicles ensures that we can provide accurate information regarding deliveries, whilst permitting full control over routing and traffic black spots.
GPS also features in our surveying department providing accurate surveys without the restrictions imposed by “line of sight” techniques. Our surveyors are equipped with both GPS and robotic EDM equipment to enable surveys to be completed, without assistance, in any situation.
Survey detail is downloaded directly to CAD workstations where the data is processed using Ground Modelling software to accurately produce 3D models of the terrain. Once completed the models may be interrogated and compared to produce finite areas and volumes for valuation purposes.
Laser control is available both in active and passive formats. Passive light systems are fitted to allow operators to control the plant to meet design levels, whilst the dozers are fitted with fully automated systems to control the blade level and grade.
The result is that Kane projects come in on time and on budget, with first-class results.
